Cracker Time!

Let's talk about healthy snacks.

Why we should have them? Well, they help to maintaining overall health and well-being. They provide essential nutrients (vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants) that may be lacking in our main meals, ensuring we receive a well-rounded diet. These nutrients support various bodily functions, including immune function, digestion, and brain health. By incorporating healthy snacks into our daily routine, we can address nutritional gaps, enhance our energy levels, and of course supports a glowy skin.

Do you like seeds? Shea, Flaxseeds? So keep reading, you migth have found a new favourite snack!

I love this recipe, as I can have it with any kind of spread (it is amazing with hummus! for example). And whenever I have friends over, I can serve them with a healthy, and delicious snack.

Ingredients for SEED CRACKERS:

  • 50g sesame seeds
  • 50g flaxseeds
  • 50g chia seeds
  • 50g sunflower seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 200ml warm water

Spoons with different kinds of seeds

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, combine all seeds and stir until well mixed. Pour half of the mixed seeds portion in a mixer or blender and grind them until you have a "thik flour".

Return the seeds flour you have created to the bowl with the whole seeds, add water and salt, stir with a spoon until you have an homogene sticky dough.

You can divide the dough into smaller flat portions, or you can lay down all the sticky mixture, spreading it on the baking sheet with a 3mm thick layer. After that, pass a knife creating a "chess board" effect leaving a small gap between each cracker. Once ready, will be easier to separate the crackers into individual biscuits.

Bake the crackers in the preheated oven for about 20-30 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Keep an eye on them as baking times may vary depending on the thickness of the crackers.

Once the crackers are baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool completely on a wire rack.

Store the cooled crackers in an airtight container to maintain their crispiness. They can be enjoyed as a snack on their own or paired with your favorite dips or spreads.

These whole grain crackers with sesame, flaxseed, chia seeds, and sunflower seeds are packed with fiber, healthy fats, and nutrients. They make a delicious and nutritious option for snacking or as a crunchy accompaniment to meals. Enjoy!
